When our friend and talented performer Andrew Lippa mentioned he was making his London debut with a concert, we jumped at the chance to make a weekend out of it. We packed in two theater performances, his concert, lots of walking and eating. Having lived there years ago, the city is familiar and always changing.
Lines stretch around the block at Ottolenghi’s take away places.
Here’s why.
Halva ice cream with tahini sauce and sesame brittle!
No visit to the UK is complete without fish & chips and minted mushed peas.
Stumbled upon a gallery exhibit of Bob Dylan’s paintings and sculptures. Only thing missing was his music.
Looks like you’re having a bloody good time (is that what they say there?). Your photos are brilliant! Oh whatevah…anyway – enjoy! The food looks yummy!

Your trip looks absolutely delicious. I found it hard to get past the halva ice cream and the English fish and chips. 🙂
This is AD. I’ve just started a new blog, which replaces the hammock one. 🙂

Halva and ice cream – two of my favorite things. I only have to leave London for a minute and they start producing stuff like this…:)

Sounds like a great trip. I’m sorry I’ve never had the opportunity to view much of Dylan’s painting. What was your impression? Did it do much for you? Does it in any way resemble his poetry?

Ah.. I should have written more– yes– liked it a lot– all kinds of media, mostly silk screens and each an original with added watercolors on top– the sculptures were fun. I like his music and words more, but enjoyed seeing how the artist explores different ways of expression.

Thank you so much for the added description. I agree with you completely. It’s very interesting to get to know a fine artist in his use of different media or different expression. I have the highest regard for him as a poet and song writer, and so I was very curious about his work in the plastic arts.
