To celebrate my birthday (5/5), I wanted to cycle the Covered Bridges of Bucks County, PA. , all preserved bridges built in the later part of the 19th century. We had cue sheets from organized rides and opted to try the 63 (or metric century) this year as we’d done the 50 many times. We crossed six covered bridges.
63 turned into 77 when we didn’t trust the cue sheet and backtracked a bit to check directions, but that’s usually expected when we’re plotting our own course.
On Sunday, we caught up with our cycling club friends who were doing a fast-paced 40 -plus miler towards Gladstone, NJ.
We didn’t have time to do the entire ride so circled back home; 22 total. Nearly a century over two days, not bad at all.
Our son Jacob and family arrived in the afternoon to take the kids on their first hike. He’d bought backpacks to carry them, reminding us how we used to carry him and his siblings. Our grandson ran the entire trail- a flat walk around a lake- until the end when he too opted for the backpack. He searched for dinosaurs, ghosts and other creatures. He became fascinated with tree holes and roots, and of course large boulders.
Happy Happy Birthday — what a gorgeous ride that must have been! I helped my daughter move and then shop for her new apartment — the shopping part was fun… 🙂

Happy Forever Young Birthday , Lisa ! You got a lot way to go reaching to ” the top of the hill ” before you need to cycling down the “hill” — I was visiting Bama city , Guangxi province last month in China. The waitress who was serving us at the street restuarant was 89 years old and the owner was 109 years old — so, you are only a ” kindergardener” . Great lives ahead !!
Thank you very much for the Tangerine Tango — it is such a lovely collection of lives experiences. I enjoyed reading them and will cherish the stories that all the writers have shared.
cheers

Thanks, Diana. I think they’re dying out- expensive to maintain, but so quaint and lovely.

Remember that bridge on ‘Bridges of Madison County’? They do have a romantic air about them, don’t they?

Yes- apparently still used for secret trysts.
