Scarecrows have invaded downtown Madison, CT in a competition sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Any business or community group could enter by creating a scarecrow that represented their organization and paying a nominal fee. Citizens vote on-line to select the best and proceeds will benefit the town library. I liked how they were all different. Here’s a sampling:

Mom taking a rest from looking at all the scarecrows. She’s wearing a sweater I made and gave to her.

On my way back to NJ, I visited Gabi Coatsworth, blogger and contributor to Tangerine Tango: Women Writers Share Slices of Life. I made sure to wear my color-appropriate sweater that I made years ago, not knowing it would become a great promotional garment. We had a good time sipping tea and chatting about the book!

Love the sweater and cute post!
Thanks! Hope to get around to meet all of you at some point!
That would be fun!
What a great idea for the town to do!
Yeah, I thought it was much more interesting than the usual display of Halloween drek.
What a fun contest! Such creativity!
I thought so. More interesting than the usual Halloween stuff and I think the attempt is to reduce vandalism, graffitti, etc.
Very smart!
Great photos and I love that scarecrow idea!
I do too- different than the usual display of witches, ghosts, etc. Seemed like a real community effort.
Let’s plan to meet all the bloggers. Love the sweater you made for your mom!
I made it for myself years ago and gave it to her. I have too many! And yet, can’t walk by a yarn shop without buying more. An illness for sure.
I’m afraid I also have that illness.
Considering the options, it’s not so terrible.
I have always loved scarecrows. Great post. I love the sweater.
Great scarecrows! Our Wild Weekly Photo Challenge encourages bloggers to head into the wild (or the backyard) and photograph something outdoors that they feel fits the weekly theme. Our current theme for this week is “Fall” and it looks like it would be right up your alley!

Great photo’s of the scarecrows. I love the sweaters too! Nice post and good luck
Thanks for stopping in!
I love the scarecrows! What a fun fall activity. I wish I lived in a small enough town for something like that to occur. And nice to see a picture of you and Gabi! Makes it seem like we know each other better!
Hopefully I’ll get to San Diego one day to meet you!
